Privacy Policy

GiftingGuru respects your privacy and processes personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable South African law.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the store, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, delivery and billing address, order and return information, customer-service messages, device and browser information, IP address, website activity, and fraud-prevention signals. Payment providers process your payment details; GiftingGuru does not store complete card numbers or card security codes.

2. Why we use it

• to process payment, fulfil, deliver and support orders;
• to manage returns, refunds, warranties and customer queries;
• to verify transactions and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents;
• to operate, measure and improve the website and product catalogue;
• to comply with tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal duties;
• to send marketing where you have consented or where otherwise permitted, with an unsubscribe option.

3. Who receives it

We share only what is reasonably needed with service providers such as payment processors, couriers, fulfilment partners, catalogue suppliers, hosting and cloud providers, analytics and security providers, accountants and professional advisers. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a legitimate business transfer. We do not sell personal information.

4. International processing

Some technology providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we use providers and safeguards intended to provide an appropriate level of protection as required by POPIA.

5. Retention and security

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including legal, tax, warranty, fraud-prevention and dispute requirements. We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards, but no internet system can be guaranteed completely secure.

6. Cookies and analytics

The website may use essential storage for cart and session functions, and limited cookies or similar technologies for security, performance and analytics. Where consent is legally required for non-essential cookies, we will request it. You can control cookies through your browser, although blocking essential storage may affect store functions.

7. Your rights

Subject to POPIA, you may ask whether we hold your information, request access or correction, object to certain processing, request deletion where legally available, withdraw consent, or complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Children

The store is intended for customers legally able to make purchases. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent where required.
